I've started playing ME3 and besides having mind-blowing graphics and a great storyline (at least so far), I'm really happy to have Kaidan back. They did a very good job with the scripts - even though you can recognize each character's personality, you can see how they've changed, too. Same goes to relationships. Which makes it all even more interesting to play
Also, I love love love Shepard's blues. So elegant and sexy at the same time. Yup!
For one thing, nearly all of the settings, backdrops and environments looked far better in ME2 than they do on ME3. Compare the Citadel in ME2 to the Citadel in ME3. And even more so, the Normandy.
Honestly, I think the only things that saw genuine graphical improvement in ME3 were the character models, and not even all of those. Really just Shepard's, Anderson's, Kaidan's, Ashley's, Garrus's, and Jack's.
I guess you do have a point in the settings, but I still liked way better the Citadel in ME3 than in ME2. in fact, it disappointed me a lot in ME2, compared to ME1 (having the opportunity to run around a bit and explore, that is). The Normandy was way brighter in ME2, but I think the darker scenario in ME3 match the mood of the whole game. Not so pretty to look at, but they invested more time in it, I think. And well, yep, the characters are great, which is my main focus since I like to draw people
